printer woes

Hi, i just purchased a new epson all in one printer/copy/scanner, the problem i am having is that when i go to install the drivers with the cd provided it will only install the scanner/copier drivers and not the printer drivers, it will not even reckonise it as a printer and say's its not connected, i have tried downloading new drivers from epson, using a different USB port and a different lead. i can get the scanner to work fine, just not the printer. I was wondering if this was a Vista problem or if any more knowledgeable member could suggest another approach. I am running Vista ultimate, and the printer is a epson DX8450 if this helps.. This is the second printer i have tried, i took the last one back with the same problem thinking that the printer was U/S, I find it quite hard to believe that 2 identical printers in 3 days would have the same fault

When you run the installation software, have you tried using the 'custom install' option, rather than installing the full suite of software? That's based on this:
