In the south east, what, in your valued opinion, is a reasonable call out charge for a builder/plumber/sparky?
Thanx all.

Hello Nixnjay, For an emergency call out I would charge about 25 depending on how far I would have to travel, in this I would include the first hours work, after that I would charge 18 per hour, I think that is fair for somebody self employed, but if it is somebody I know I never charge for call outs. you probably guessed I am a sparky.the names a bit of a giveaway eh.

thanx Ray, kind of you to answer! x
My stupid husband does call-outs for free - I could kill him, and he's the only decent English plumber on this side of the island!
Good luck with whoever you call out NixnJay.

neti thats not stupid it's good, I rarely charge it either as 99% of my work is for people I have worked for, for years, it is the freedom I like and working for people you know will pay you, not always the builders trying to rip people off, they never do programmes about the crafty gits who want work done for nothing do they.
