hi, can anyone help me? i have bought a gammon joint and was wondering if i can cook it in my slow cooker. if so what could i put with it in the slow cooker for a tasty meal?

All I did was put about an inch of water in the bottom and sliced a couple of potatoes and rested the joint on them- so it wasn't touching the base, whacked it on about 7 in morning and it was cooked by the time I came home from work at 3 to perfection.
I didn't put anything else in with it as the meal, I prefered to do 'roasties' in the oven, but i dont see why you can't chuck in a few root vegetables. Also the juice left in pot makes lovely gravy.

Bring the joint to the boil in a pan first and rinse.
In the slow cooker, I add chopped carrot, swede, and turnip, and cover the whole lot with red wine. The final result is not visually attractive, but the taste and texture are brilliant. No timings, I just leave it on Medium until (well !) done. Chop the veg into quite small pieces, carrot in particular can need quite a while before it is tender.

Pop the gammon in the slow cooker (i always soak mine in water for 24 hours...changing often to remove the salt) And chuck a bottle of ginger ale in with it.
When done, cover the gammon with dijon or grainy mustard and sprinkle copiuosly with brown sugar and then pop in the oven for 25-30 mins.
