I take it you mean in the TV series (1949-1957)? If so, it starred Clayton Moore as the Lone Ranger and Jay Silverheels as Tonto. (though with John Hart as the Lone Ranger from 1952-1954)
To further unmask the program, however The Lone Ranger was first aired on radio on January 30, 1933. It quickly became one of the most popular shows and lasted until September 3, 1954, some 2,956 episodes.
Earle Graser and Brace Beemer played the majority of performances as the masked man and John Todd played Tonto through the production run (Source: The Vintage Library)
Mind you, we had Action Men and we weren't allowed these - too expensive - but a neighbour had them. Little bug ger would never let anyone play with Lone ranger, we always had to be Tonto.
