Incidentally though technically a carnivore the badger is actually an omnivore- it eats far more plant material and earthworms than it does meat. When you see a fox wandering across a badger sett it is obvious that it is larger than the badger.

I would have thought it would be Scottish wildcat no ?
Surely they are bigger than both badgers and foxes.
Info from BBC wildlife on Scottish wildcats:
Head/body length 50-70cm,
tail length 25-40cm,
height 25-25cm.
Average weight: males 5kg, females 3.5kg.
In a Pickle- thats quite an interesting story. Do you see them on a regular basis?

Ah right In a Pickle, oh I bet they could do alot of damage to your lawn! Seeing them wallow in the mud would be quite a pleasant sight I would imagine!
Dagman yes there has been talks but nothing's been decided as of yet. It's silly really, since the wolves were wiped out there are huge numbers of deer which are ruining the plantlife and distrupting ecosystems. It seems that reintroducing the wolf would be an obvious help, and then no culling would need to take place.
Ah burnhal, thanks. I forget how big badgers are, just had a look at some pictures there.
I like this question giltbrookian =]
So it's the fox then?
