suitable beach holiday destination for a 6 year old

i would like to take my 6 year old son abroad, somewhere with nice beaches, but as its just me and him travelling i would like somewhere safe, but thats also fun for him? any ideas would be great, thanks ;)

Albufeira, Portugal is very nice. good clean beaches and some local atractions, zoos etc. also a road train takes you into the main town. My son is a little younger and loved it. Also with a cheap fishing rod, you can safely fish off the beach and that might amuse him for hours.
Stay away from 'the strip' though as it is very busy in the summer months.

I agree with the above post but just a word of warning.Be very selective of where you stay it is very hilly ,so choose carefully. Near the town would be best with a child.Good luck and happy days for your hol.g

Greek Islands, Southern Crete, Kos, Greeks are very child freindly resorts are great, food great ,beaches are lovely. I've been going to the islands & mainland for over 30 years and never had a bad holiday fully recommend.
