How can I find out if someone has died?

An old boyfriend and I have kept together for over 40 years, seeing each other occasionally but usually just keeping in touch by email, once a week or so. Now I haven't heard anything since November and I'm wondering if he's OK. I can't ring as he has a jealous wife who doesn't know about our liason (my husband doesn'r know either) and I don't know any of his friends that I could ask. Is there an online register of deaths?

Do you know where he lives? town, city etc?
perhaps you could look at his local newspaper online and look at the obituary column.

You can do a search for his name in the General Register Office, think it costs around �5, hope all is ok.

Have you tried 192. com? I think you can get a lot of answers for free (more info you have to pay for) I used it to look up a persons surname and only found the wife's name and not the husband but he was showing forther down the page under a year which told me all I needed to know.
