I'm horrified at the amount she recieved too (of our money too!), but if I was in that situation I'd expect compensation comparable to my loss of earnings as well as the inconvenience too.
Surely she would have had to submit something that details her average earnings before that amount was decided, whether she'd recently ruined her own career or not?

It's sad that you have to go to that length to get money back as many will not beable to afford big expensive solicitors and will therefore lose out.
My brother died in 2006 of various NHS infections and mistakes, but my parents refuse to take action as they are strict Christians and think taking money from the NHS will not help anyone just the opposite.
I did want to take them to court purely so they could acknoledge not only the unnessesary death of my brother but also the sheer pain and neglect he received from the NHS in the 1 yr period before his death. If we were awarded money I would not feel bad because I would reinvest it in those people the NHS does not care for and invest properly in, such and people living daily with disablities.
