Music Genre Advice

Wondering if anyone can offer me any help out there.
I've been a fan of a certain type of music for a long time now, its the sort of music you hear on movies in American cities at night. I'm a big fan of chill-out and underground music styles but i've been trying to nail down the name of this genre for a while.
There is almost always trumpets and double bass, and have a very jazzy sound to it, mixed with the likes of blues, chill-out and acid jazz I guess.
If anyone can get at what im saying and offer any advice, if not on the genre but any artists you think fall into this sound, any comments would be very much appreciated!
Thanks everyone,
James Alexander

You can listen to a great deal of smooth jazz artists here.

You will have to download a little programme called "Abacast" to listen, but other than that. Enjoy!
You might like to add Courtney Pine and Kenny G to your list if you like saxaphone style stuff.
I'm a smooth jazz guitar fan. My personal favourites are Peter White and Chris Standring.
