MM Links Solutions January 2008 [Week 3]

As usual, the game was launched yesterday morning by Queen Pauline posting four words. Players then had to guess what other words had been chosen to be matched with them.
Did you spot the clues in the last line of her poem?
. . . Think of places away from home.
I am now in a position to reveal that Queen Pauline chose the following word pairings:
drift AWAY
holiday MAKER
ideal HOME(S)
beach BALL
Yes, they were all followers again this week but with fewer possibilities to choose from, there were more scorers than last week. Consequently, many have had to relinquish their membership of the free-fall club.
So, who were the winners and losers this time?

Although not quite as fast, but within the two-minute rule, Dinkypuzzled, fordward, ulysses100, Grenmus, Christiana & evsajo all gained bonus points as well for IDEAL HOME. The popularity of that option then bagan to peter out after this initial flurry.
At 9:02 ulysses100 was in a fun mood and found BEACH BALL for 2 points as well making 4 for this game.
The final pairing held out until JMR27 popped in at 9:37 with HOLIDAY MAKER for 2 points.
The only other double hitters were devadiva & joto (2 points each)
So who will be my '*** HOTSHOT OF THE WEEK ***'? For this honour I have selected the first of the double-hitters Alibobs. '*** CONGRATULATIONS ***' Alibobs - after two barren weeks, you really needed those points.
This is also an appropriate point to welcome two new players to this game - beejay1124 & kaysiecat. Beejay even scored a point. We hope you enjoy this bit of light-relief at the weekends and we look forward to seeing you both again next Saturday. Any others interested are also welcome to join in the fun.
Now for the Leader Board . . .

Now for the Leader Board . . .
League Table Leaders - for January Week 3
With Strix & Magyar both failing to score this week, it has allowed others to bunch up at the front. The leader-board now looks like this:
7 points: Strix & ulysses100
6 points: Magyar & fordward
4 points: Alibobs & JMR27
3 points: jan1956
There are 13 players on 2 points
and a further 13 on 1 point
'*** CONGRATULATIONS ***' to Strix & ulysses10 for being the current joint leaders.
With just one more week to go, it is anybody's guess who will triumph for January. The four most likely contenders are not far enough ahead to discount a possible dark horse managing a sprint finish. Magyar has already shown it is possible to score 6 points (or more) in a single week and so even the back markers are still in with a chance.
See you all at the same place next weekend. Be sure to be there.

Thanks Pauline and gen2.
Only one point again, but I suppose thats better than none.
Don't think this month will herald any success for me - next month I'll be in at the start (missed week 1 this time)
Congrats to the winners and leaders.
Have a good week everyone - see you next Friday in the shrubbery.
