computor keeps freezing
my pc keeps freezing every so often. it does it when booting up, after running for a while, after running for a couple of minutes.
i think it maybe the processor is running to hot and it freezes to stop any damage.when i look at the bios it says pcu is aprox 55c is this hot or ok? can't find anything in paperwork for pc or processor.

Do you defrag often as this can slow a pc to a halt if left too long.Dodgey memory can also be a prob.
Have you virus and spyware scanned recently.
A good registry cleaner is a must as a corrupted registry can also cause this.

bongoboy,
i've finally sorted it !!!
took a while, i thought i'd cleaned all the dust from fans etc. BUT what i didn't notice was a layer of fluff (like the lint you get on a tumble drier filter ) between the fan and the heatsink on the proccessor. it was very difficult to see and just having the hoover nozzle near it wasn't enough to remove it.
a small paint brush carefully deployed loosened it then the hoover did it's job.
so for any one else that didn't know about this potential problem, look between the fan and heatsink for a layer of fluff/lint.
