If evolutiuon is true then why dont dogs have lizard tongues. It would make fetching a ball much more efficient?

Fetching a ball is probably not high up on the evolutionary needs of a dog.

Because dogs smell with their noses and lizard smell with their tongue, that's why it is forked.
