Teenage mums.
When under 16's have babies do they get benefits? ps I am not a teenager trying to get more pocket money.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.The parents or guardians of the mother can include the new baby in their claims for income support, Job Seekers Allowance or Child Tax Credit, but the mother cannot claim any of these benefits in her own right. Child benefit will be paid in respect of the child but will be counted as family income and may reduce the amount of mean tested benefits the family is entitled to. I think the family will also be able to claim a maternity grant if they are already receiving benefits.
