At least in the US they hand out fairly decent sentences. Although I think he should be hung, drawn and quartered, at least 47 years will keep him away from other kids.
If this had happened in the UK he would have bleated on in court about having a deprived childhood and probably walked away from court with a community service order.
Have you seen the other child murder story in the news today? A woman in the US was annoyed by her baby crying so she killed it by putting it in the microwave on full power.

Just as an addendum to Mrs O post (not as serious but could have been) do you recall last week a story of a 3yr old and a one yr old balancing on the balcony of their flat (in the afternoon) and the poilce had to coax them back into the house -when they got in the father was lying blind drunk and couldnt be roused and the mother was fast asleep 'medication' in the bedroom and the father walked free - exconerated.Couldnt believe it.
