I'm living in IT hell!
I cannot understand why this is so hard to fix....
<deep breath>
Will talk in short, incomplete sentences:
Run own business
Basic network installed: server, Windows small business server, 3 network points, windows pc and laptop on 2 points, mac laptop in another (obviously not connected to network but get online this way.)
mail is pop3/smtp, linked to our domain.
My question really is - why are the muppets who installed it so useless? is it the pop3 mail that's causing problems? Surely my IT requirements aren't all that hard to understand!
I don't really want an answer to the network problem, I just want to know if all IT people are insane and incompetent or if I use someone who is highly recommended will they be able to fix it easily?? And quickly??
I guess I just want to rant to people who haven't heard about my problems :-)
Thank you and goodnight!

now the real prob .... what prob do you have ....if you've told the "muppets" as little as you've told us .... I'm not surprised.
having said that ... when it gets to a network + server .... people either know or don't.
it's not incredibly difficult .... a little familiarity will get you by

If email is the problem, look into setting up Google Apps for your Domain.
It's very cheap (50/year or so I think), and it basically gives you Gmail access for your business, working under your domain name (so you can use [email protected] instead of [email protected]).
That way, Google look after your mail access (you can use it either POP or IMAP (better)), so you don't have any worries.
