Can anyone xplain to me if i can transfer file from my uni comp to my home comp using an FTP software?? please..thanks

Unlikely, to do this you would need to know the IP address of you home computer - I assume you have a dial up connection, if this is so then you will not have a static IP address and it will be allocated on login. You a re probably best off zipping and emailing yourself or FTPing to a location on the web and then downloading form there form home - there are sites which offer a data storage service for just such uses, usually a small number of Mb for free then a pay service after that.
