Getting a visa to USA with minor criminal conviction
Hi there - I am planning a tripo to the US from Australia but my huband was convicted of shoplifting an $8 bracelet when he was 19yrs old. He is now 46 with no further convictions. His punishment was a $50 fine dealt out by the courts. What are his chances of obtaining a visa o the US? We don't want to risk just filling out the visa aiver form and ticking NO. I have already bought the concert tickets in California and don't want to be disappointed....

My hubby went for an interim interview just to see what the Consular General would say about his situation - he only had half of his paperwork with him. The guy OK'd his visa on the spot and he will collect his passport next Monday!!!
His offence was so minor and so long ago the guy didn't waste time going into details too much. Hubby said there were others there with drug convictions who were having a much harder time. Well, SAn Francisco here we come !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
