A day in Singapore
I've got a full day in Singapore shortly on route to Australia. Has anyone any suggestions on how to see as much as possible in such a short time? I'll be very grateful for any advice. Thanks in advance.

God this site p's me off sometimes for doing this so often.
Perhaps I'll have another go tomorrow. Or can I suggest another website ... http://boards.fool.co.uk/Messages.asp?mid=1085 3115&bid=50959 one that doesn't crash during 1 in 3 posts?

May I suggest the following? Visit the Botanical Gardens (free admission) - plenty to see here including some amazing orchids. Then, get a taxi back to town (taxis are really inexpensive here) and get the driver to suggest a lunch venue off the tourist track. If you like seafood be sure to try the chilli-crab - a Singapore delicacy. A peep into Raffles is worth doing, but their Singapore Sling is not what it used to be. Personally I wouldn't waste time shopping, but duty free prices on cameras etc. are good.
Boat Quay and Clarke Quay are worth visiting particularly by night. Enjoy the trip!
