Why does the law ALWAYS side with women?
4 Answers
My boyfriend has just been served papers to appear in court. His soon to be exwife has accused him of being violent towards her. When infact it was her that attacked him when he returned his son last weekend. All he tried to do was drop his son off and leave the house but she and her sister tried to lock him in. Her sister then tried to attack him with his son in her arms. His solicitor then sent a letter to say that he would no longer collect his son without another person present and she should do the same. Then now this?? He is banned from contacting her or seeing his son. She is basically doing this for revenge as he is with me, she is also saying she does not know if i am a safe person. Does she really think his dad would put him in danger ? NO this is revenge ! who gets hurt ? the child! But why can she just go to the court and they believe her???

So, looking at past situations we know that some husbands batter their wives. We know that they are physically larger and stronger than women and in society as a whole, the male of the species is generally the wrong-do'er'. Just turn on to Crimewatch to see the ratio of male:female violent crime committed. So unfortunately, men have made their own beds.
This does not help your partner in any way of course. I have read a similar scenario to this on AB before and I'm sure it happens to alot of men.
The only thing your partner can do is to protect himself and cover his back. ie, Take on the advice of the solicitor, record all telephone conversations and have a small dictaphone hidden in his pocket when he sees his ex. He need not engage her in conversation and only talk about his son with her, no matter how much he is goaded.
Don't let the strain and the stress of this situation interfer e with your relationship, as this is probably her aim. It may also be useful to predict that the woman in question will speak badly about both yourself and your partner to her son. In which case you will need to reassure your partner's son that he is loved and safe and make sure that he doesn't think that it's all his fault.(Which is what children always think)

unfortunately a lot of women will use contact with their children as a weapon in divorce cases.
why is he prevented from contacting the son though? maybe his solicitor should be writing to ensure that contact goes ahead as spousal dispute is not a reason that contact shoudln'ttake place. If he can't go to th ehouse, maybe he coudl collect/drop off at a relatives house or even a public place? if she is refusing all voluntary contact, he will have to make a court application and may end up having contact in a contact centre - notgreat but better than nothing. I hope it works out for him.
A friend of ours got accused of assault by his crazy ex and even though she gave evidence against him, the court didn't believe her and he was found not guilty After that though she did a runner with the kids.
