don't worry, first they'll show you to the treatment room where you will be restrained on a metal bench, this will give you a good view of the technican heating up a blood stained compass over a candle for a few minutes, when this is burning hot (hygiene is very important) he will very very slowly push the hot metal through your tender skin the pain will cause you to scream it is then that the ball gag will be inserted into your mouth (the uses of this are two fold, to stop your screaming and prevent you from biting off your tounge) - this will go on for about 15 minutes, by which point you will have been reduced to a quivering wreck and will run out screaming... but your belly will look fab on the beach
If you're that scared you really shouldn't get it done, why put yourself through that? I'm sure that there are some good fake ones out there. On the other hand though, if it hurt that much do you really think so many people would be getting it done? I've had mine done a total of three times (I get bored take it out then want it done again). The most painful part for me was the healing process, and I wouldn'y call that painful just uncomfortable - you have to be careful how you sit, what bottoms you wear, etc. As for the actual piercing I didn't even know it had been pierced, it's the anticipation that it worst. There's nothing to worry about!

thanks natalie a great load of c*rap u gave me there undercovers u sound like a freak, realli expect me 2 believe that? thanks heapz for ur help natalie, god bless xoxo
I lay down and they rubbed my belly with an antiseptic wipe, clamped the skin above my belly button and pushed a needle through (top to bottom) and put in a bar that I chose before hand. Yes it hurt quite bad! A week later it went completely septic and started leeking puss, and I had to have a week off work as I was in that much pain. I was on antibiotics as it was so badly infected. Not got my belly button pierced anymore!! Sorry!!!!! But obviously this doesn't happen to everyone!! Good luck
I didn't think it hurt at all. Not as much as my some of my nose and ear piercings have anyway. But it did heal out really quickly...so it turned out to be a bit of a waste of time for me. Everybody's skin is different though.
I'm with nicola_red: the piercing itself didn't hurt me at all..in fact I found it mildly and rather disturbingly pleasant! It's the aftercare bit- waiting for it to heal properly where you have to be careful. Don't catch it on anything, because this kills, and no excessive exercise (because jumping around hurts too). Keep it clean and keep up with the antiseptic wiping stuff you have to do, because it's worth it not to have a puss-oozing belly button. Good luck! And as long as you don't then put on weight (which I did, and still am), it looks fab!
And that only happened to Gibbo because she/he did a home job. Not recommended. Are you going to a proper place to have this done?
What are you on about georgit?? I had it done at a professional piercing parlour in Manchester actually!
Oh and georgit, if you look at the duplicate post the exact same thing happened to someone else! Not a 'home job' as you say, it has happened to loads of people I know.
It doesnt hurt.
Just post ur question once ffs. It probably will hurt but then it will go.
It's not scary at all and you have nothing to worry about while having it done, as long as the person is skilled to do it and they use sterilised equipment! I think they have to hold some kind of certificate, check and see if there is one on the walls? Anyway, from what i remember having mine done is that they will spray a cold spray that "freezes" your belly button are, a bit like an anaesthetic! This is so you don't feel any 'discomfort', then they use this tool that looks a bit like a salad server!! this is to clamp two folds of skin to make the piercing, lastly they insert the bar through a sterile tiny plastic tube, they screw the ball on and voila it's over! They'll put a covering over it, like a plaster, this is just to protect it, it will be sore when you sit down and wear loose clothing around that area for about a week. The piercing process itself is a few seconds. The main thing you have to worry about is making sure you keep it clean and don't let it get infected (i've heard some horror stories before where the person has not 'cared' properly for it!) If the place is good and the people know what they're doing they will atell you about after care, how to clean, usually you can buy a spray that you can use in the morning ands at night! But you can also clean it with cool boiled water and cotton wool! Hope this has been helpful to you and good luck! I had to take mine out when i was pregnant and when i tried to put it back in it got infected.
Hiya i had mine when i was 16, it didnt hurt at all im so scared of needles i went in and kept freaking out and getting up laying down again in the end i took a deep breath she pushed the needle through put the bar in and i didnt feel a thing i didnt even know she had started or finished!!! Dont panic good luck x x
I'm 14 I REALLY REALLY want to get my button pierced soooooo bad. I'm not worried about the pain I'm usually good with handling pain, but my mom WON'T GO FOR IT, I asked her if I can get it at 16 and she's like no 18. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can get her to say yes. The only reason she doesn't want me to is becuz she thinks it's "******" PLZ SOMEONE GIVE ME IDEAS BECUZ I CAN'T WAIT TIL 18.
Hi, mine didn't hurt at all during the piercing. Afterwards, it took 4 months to heal (with me properly taking care of it exactly as they told me) - it kept getting infected. I think this is fairly common - most people I know with navel piercings got infections and took a long time to heal. But - after it did heal, I didn't have any more infections for the 10 years I had it.
i got mine done 2 months ago. it doesnt hurt that bad, all you can feel is a sharp pain (thats the needle) for about 5 secs and then its over. hope that helped xxxxxxxxxxxxx
