Use surgical soap to keep your face really clean, and avoid touching your face with dirty hands. Cleanse your face at bedtime, and if you wear make-up (I'm assuming you are a young lady, apologies if not!) clean it off very thoroughly. The best way to keep spots away is to starve them. At your age, your sebacious glands very very active, producing lots of oil in your skin, which you need to control. Follow these stepa, and your spots should go away, and stay away.
(firstly apologies if you're a boy - some of this will not apply!)
If you've tried all of the over the counter stuff you can buy at Boots etc, then I suggest you either consider 'alternative' remedies or go to the doctors. If you have 'lumpy' under the skin spots rather than blackheads/whiteheads, scrubbing and cleaning and using topical creams won't help at all, if anything they'll just make your skin dry - which can make things worse. Usually all you need is a decent facewash and cleanser after using makeup. Ideally you need to solve it from the inside out.
Herbal/alternative: Sulphur products are often recommended for acne - I have used MSM (methylsulphonylmethane - from GSM or holland and barrets) which really worked for me.
Doctors: If your spots are really bugging you then don't hesitate to go see your GP, if he doesn't take you seriously then get another! There are plenty of options that the Dr can prescribe, mainly antibiotics, other topical creams and special contraceptive pills (if you're a girl!!! tho you might not feel ready for that!). I used antibiotics first and then also the pill, now I'm off both and just using MSM. I'm 23 now and come to the conclusion that I will never have 100% perfect skin 100% of the time, I'm just glad mine never scarred. Don't worry about using antibiotics either, even for a couple of years, doctors these days are much more careful and won't prescribe antibiotics that you may need to be resistant to in later life!
My every sympathy emcum, but to be honest if you've been bothered for a few years then I'd say your GP is your best bet. Don't be put off if your GP's unsympathetic - acne is one of the most confidence shattering things you can have as a teenager and so you should persist until you get a prescription that works. There's lots out there but they will want you to finish each course of antibiotics as they can take a while to kick in. A healthy diet will probably help, but antibiotics were the only thing that worked for me. Good luck x
Go to your gp and see if there are any tablets he can provide, mybrother had bad spots and tablets cleared them up completely. Also get a good fascial wash, one that is suited to your skin type. And maybe go for a fascial and get all your pores unblocked and cleansed. Steaming the face then rinsing with cold water afterwards can help too.

well i've got spots, and i also wear alot of foundation to hide the spots. you should try to avoid from picking them or squeezing them coz that just makes em worse. you could buy, CLEAN AND CLEAR overnight gel, that made mine alot better, coz i didnt wear foundation for a week, and i kept on cleansing my face with wipes and then i put the OVERNIGHT GEL on! But now i've started wearing foundation again and its made my face look horrible again! hope this helped xxxxxxx
