Mortgages for Self-employed

I am self-employed and have annual accounts for my sole trader status. My accountant's job is to get the bottom line as low as possible so that I don't have to pay tax. But mortgage lenders look at the bottom line to assess my income! I know I can afford a higher mortgage than I currently have (I want to use capital from the equity on my home). Can anyone recommend a mortgage lender who will give me what I think I can afford rather than what my accounts show? Thanks

Watts Mortgages & Financial Services Ltd on 01270 620 555 will almost certainly be able to help you. Different companies have very different lending criteria and as Watts Mortgages are independant and have access to all the lenders, they will be more likely to find something suitable that if you went to the High Street. Hope this helps.
I'm in the same boat Claudia. My wife and I found the Standard Life Bank (based in Edinburgh I think) very helpful, so thats who we are with.
