Adobe Acrobat

Help me please!
I have a file which is a pdf, and I have it open with Adobe Acrobat 8.0. I want to save it as a separate file with some of the pages deleted, but I can't seem to find anywhere which tells me how to delete the pages! Does anyone know how to do this?
When I go to 'save a copy', it brings up an error message saying you can't save changes unless you're using version 8.0 which I am so I don't understand that, but I don't know how to make the changes anyway!

You can't edit pdf files without expensive pdf editors, although I believe there are some free ones out there.

You certainly can't do it in the free Acrobat. Would printing the document help? You could either scan it back in and use your own software to cut the unwanted parts out, or do it the old fashioned way with scissors and rescan.

Oh dear :-(
I didn't really want to do the scanning thing. So there's no way of just saving some whole pages and not all of them? I don't even want to edit it, just save the pages in different files.
What a pain in the ar5e!
Have you used any of the free editors? Might give that a go...

I have a paid for editor. I hate adobe with a passion and use a free pdf viewer.

This may work for you - it gives a free trial of the paid for version which will certainly do what you want.

Adobe produce some great software but most of it costs 'megabucks'. When they came up with the idea of the Adobe PDF format, they realized that people wouldn't pay to buy the software to create (and edit) pdf files unless the people who were to receive them could view them for free. So they created the free Acrobat Reader (which is what you're referring to as 'Acrobat 8.0') which is solely for viewing pdf files. (It's similar to the way that Microsoft provide a free program for viewing Excel files but charge a large amount of money for the actual Excel software).

To edit a pdf document, you need more than Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Reader. You need Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard or Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Professional. These programs cost �276.99 and �405.95 respectively! (Current Amazon prices).

There are, of course, some independent software programs which can be used to edit pdf files. Most of them still require payment but you might try PdfEdit995 8.0. It's a commercial program but the free download is fully operational with just some 'nag' screens to try to get money from you:

(Save the file in Acrobat Reader, then load it into PdfEdit995 to edit it before saving your revised version).

You could just copy the entire contents of the pdf document and paste it into Word. Then edit it there.

I downloaded a free trial of bluebeam in the end, which let me extract pages and save them separately - phew!

That is the whole point of pdf format and Adobe Acrobat. It is where you have written a document and you DONT want anyone changing it.

If the government write an important document and put it out in say Word format anyone could change the text and have it say anything they liked.

Also, by making Adobe Reader free it means anyone can read a document without having to pay for expensive software on their computer.

Ethel,picked up on your Foxit download,went to the site and found it was conditional on taking up a third party "offer".Found one that was acceptable and subscribed,That was three days ago & despite emailing Foxit several times seem no nearer to getting the download.What have I missed on this?
