Tonight's Casualty - what was the music?

It was a classical piece, piano, quite slow, I know it from somewhere but don't know who the composer is or if it's a modern piece. Can someone help?

To answer Invisible: Ruth was depressed after the guy with the autistic son died. So she hung herself. Luckily Abs and Toby decided they wouldn't take no for an answer on Ruth going to the pub with them, so they went to her room and forced their way in after they heard her pager ring and not get answered. Hope that helps.
