They are the holders of the secret of the lost history of the lineage of Jesus of Nazareth, and his wife Mary of Magdala, and the only genuine descending group from the Templar knights, as explained in the book The Hiram Key.

Or they're a club for middle aged men to get out of the house.

hmmm - i've posted this in the wrong section.

I'm gonna repost it in "society & culture"

but...would still like your opinions.
apparently there is a secret message on the american one dollar bill the pyramid with the eye and various letters on it, and did you know ben franklin who was a freemason wanted the turkey to be the national symbol of america?
They raise thousands for charity.
Bunch of weirdos chanting stuff they dont even understand, an ego boost because most of the ones I know are either mealy mouthed a**eholes or sad middle aged men who have nothing better to do with thier time. (there are odd ones who raise a lot of money for charity as well but the rest of them are just hangers on)
Maybe in your town but nit in mine, they are very well thought of, well respected and never cause any drain on anyone resources, they support the families of freemasons with educational grants and financial contributions
A friend of mine is in the masons but says he is in the social side of it.
me and mrpuss went to a 'Ladies night' there some time ago and although we had a good night there was this under lying feeling that because we were not in the brotherhood we were under suspicion. Anyway mrpuss went to the gents during the night and he was approached by a couple of 'members' and asked if he was interested in joining their club, he refused as he found it very intimitating. Needless to say we haven't been to any of these 'dos' since.
was he uninvited
That is a very strange way of inviting a member, they usually have to be nominated I think, I have been to several events and they are always lovely
i bet no one picks up on my clever joke
actually I can't see it myself!!! I must be looking too hard lol i usually do get them sorry Bob sweetheart!
thats ok dorothy im too intelligent for this place
as usual I agree! some times it is tedious and I can't be bothered lol
Any club with prince phillip as a high up member has got to be avoided.

Hitler had the right idea with this bunch.

I remember a few years ago a paedophile ring within a police force, all masons.

I dont know why you think they are ok Dot, they dont let women in, unless of course it is a silly ladies night or whatever they call it.
Answer to bob, no we were not uninvited we were invited as friends/guessts of a friend who was already a member and who was the then grand master retiring.

am enjoying reading all your opinions.

By the way Doc NOT all the freemasons are male, as you say, there is also a branch called the "co-masons" - (more popular in usa than uk) these are all ladies and follow the same rituals etc.... or so i'm told. BUt they do hold their lodge meeting seperrately from the men.

by the way i am NOT a mason but i do find it interesting, particularly the symbolism and history..

I'm pretty divided as to what i think about the group.

I think the majority of masons are good, law abiding folk but....

on a negative spin - i do wonder about how twisted things may get as they go further on up the hierarchy ...which i suspect alot of masons "lower down" in rank possibly don't know, or choose to ignore these "rumours" .... but hey .... i believe in the illuminati after all so i'm probably abit of a conspiracy theorist. :-)
