Baby movements in late pregnancy
Morning all.
I am a little concerned, the baby doesn't seem to be moving much. all I can feel are gentle and very faint movements, no kicks, no prods and its doing my head in.
I have rang the midwifes and left a message for them to call me back but no reply as yet.
I was very active yesterday (decorating) and in the evening there were virtually no movements at all so I went on the internet (big big mistake) and scared the cr@p out of myself.
Is this normal, I know the baby will be short of room now but I am still not very big was 33 at 36 weeks (that was two weeks ago)
Any ideas?

I was even monitored when I had to go in just over a week ago with chest pains despite baby still being its usual self! I bet you get there and baby decides to have a mad moment and doesnt sit still!
Natalie, your poor friend. Im guessing the reason she got it so early was due to her carrying twins. Most women get it, if they get it at all, at around 30 weeks. I got it early because I had it during my first pregnancy. So, this time it has started earlier and been a lot lot more painful! Im not sure about the two being connected although the pressure being babys head grinding away down there does make sense. I would have thought if the two were connected, I would be getting a lot of pain with the pressure, and Im not...... thankfully! lol

Hey warpig, with my first I had preeclampsia. About 2 weeks before I got the symptoms I was certain I was feeling reduced fetal movements, and it terrified me so much that I didn;t even mention it to my mum who is a midwife. Anyway when I got the lightning flashes and swelled up unrecognisably, I knew summat was wrong and then mentioned the reduced movements. I went into hospital and was attached to a monitor, I had to click a button every time I felt the baby move to see if it matched an increased heartbeat to the baby, turns out when I was lying there with absoluely nothing to think about other than baby moving, he was moviung 10 times an hour let alone in a day.
If you ever get particularly worried, go and lie down somewhere quiet, with no distractions and I expect you will be surprised. 10 times a day is what you should be feeling.

Phew..................Well there is nothing wrong with the baby or its movements, thank god.
GS you were right, as soon as they hooked me up and showed me what to do the baby started moving, in fact it had hiccups (possibly due to the fact that I shoved a sandwich into me before going into the ward), I was so embarrassed!!!!! There was sound as well so I could hear the movement, strange thing was that although I could hear the movement I couldn't feel most of it.
anyway, panic over, nurse was happy that all was ok , think I need to lie down now.
Thank you everyone for all you help and support, dont worry only another couple of weeks to go for me to torment you with, then I will move my questions to Family..
Thank you
