Argggh, doing me head in, it was in the late 90' 4 women got together, while their husbands were in prison and did a robbery of some sort...it was called....Gold??? Diamond??? ..... i think they nealy got caught out, but got away with it ...... Help. i need answer!

I think you're thinking of Lynda La Plantes 'Widows' and yes, they did get away with it..... or at least until the 2nd series :-)
However, this may not be the one your thinking of because these were originally shown 1983 and 1985 (maybe you watched a re-run?)

I'm almost sure it was Daylight Robbery as I remember it had Michelle Collins in it. Band of Gold was a completely different story, about prostitution, yes.

'Widows' was first broadcast in the early 80s and began with a security van hold up in a road tunnel. I seem to recall Linda Lusardi making her acting debut in that.

'Band of Gold' - I remember hearing the girls from my sons' primary school talking about having seen this and the teachers being quite shocked. This would be late 80s/early 90s. Does that help?
