Trade Account
My husband signed for a John Smith's Brewery account to be opened whilst working for a friend who was abroad at the time. When the friend returned he sold his part of the company without settling this account and my husband left that job (2 years ago). Recently, a company called Carltons have written to my husband (as his name is still as the account holder) wanting the money (2000). Carltons say he has no rights as it is a trade debt. They are adding interest daily and we can't afford to pay the amount they want and the friend has gone awol. Does anyone know where we stand with this? Can they take my husband to court to recover 100% of this?
