On the evening of 4th November, I was flying into Birmingham International airport. However after flying around for a while and an aborted landing, we were diverted to East Midland due to fog. The point is that whilst flying over Birmingham we all noticed many bonfires and fireworks going off, and I wondered if there was any link between many bonfires at the same time and the onset of fog.

I think it was just foggy in Brum that day, it came down about 4pm
Depends on the weather at the time. If the conditions are right for fog in the first place, which at this time of year they often are, the bonfires and fireworks will add to the murk. If the weather is breezy and fast moving, they'll make no difference.
