Can anyone give more information on hereditary fructose intolerance and how the hereditary intolerance is produces. What is the role of enzymes in hereditary intolerance?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Hereditary fructose intolerance is produced due to a deficiency of the enzyme, aldolase B that cleaves fructose 1-phosphate, which is formed from fructose by the action of fructokinase, to dihydroxyacetone phosphate and D-glyceraldehyde. Due to the deficiency of the enzyme, fructose 1-PO4 accumulates in cells and causes hepatic and renal damage.
