Refilled print cartridge not working

Just had my Lexmark black ink cartridge refilled and have replaced it in my printer, but it is still saying it is empty. What could be the problem and can this be fixed? (other than taking it back to where I had it refilled and asking for a refund) I really needed to print something tonight. Thanks.

try printing something out ,you might find that it does print -some printers say that the cartridge is empty after they have been filled - a ruse by the manufacturers to get you to buy their own branded exorbitantly priced cartridges , my old cannon printer was like that , if this is the case, you can buy inks to refill the cartridges yourself from ebay for a few pounds and save yourself a fortune

Thanks, but as soon as I try to print anything out it says that the ink is empty and gives me a link to order more.

there is a chip on the cartridge which needs resetting ......
sounds like they haven't.
