I think my TV is possessed!

Just recently I have been sitting there watching TV and suddenly the volume goes crazy and it makes it all the way to full volume without me doing anything.

It's not all the time, only sometimes which I find very unnerving as it seems unlikely to be a sticky button on either the remote control or the tv unit.

What the hell is going on? Could something be interfering with my telly?

I can't watch anything now for fear of annoying my neighbours.

Thanks for all the fantastic responses, I feel like I'm getting closer to a possible answer here but it is not a fault with switching between digital and analogue thats for sure.

I hope its not a spirit but that seems unlikely since it has only started happening in the last couple of weeks or so.

And as for the HAM idea, i havent noticed any additional antenae recently. But it does remind me...in the last weeks I have seen another wireless internet connection in addition to mine (in fact it screwed up my connection for a while) and the signal strength is pretty strong....i don't know if this could be a cause? anyone?
Ah, now I too think that we are getting close to the answer. A strong Transmitting Signal can cause all sorts of problems to T.V's, Stereos & Hi-Fi's, Even Lights in the house, possibility of them dimming or even getting brighter & on occasions switching on & off. Sometimes my voice (unrecognisable) coulkd be heard mumbling through Hi-Fi or T.V Speakers. When I had my ham radio in my car, If I was parked close to a shop or house with an Alarm System, as soon as I keyed the mike to speak, the alarms would set off (so did I !!). Check out the Wireless Internet Connection theory as the more I think about it, the more I am convinced that this is the problem. A qualified T.V Engineer should be able to help. Good Luck,

Many thanks for that last answer, I shall see if i can work out who has got the new wireless router and ask them to change the channel it is working on.

I'll also try to see if i can change what frequency the tv remote works on but i dont know if thats possible.
