A bloke called Ed Cobb, about whom I know nothing beyond the fact that he wrote "Tainted Love" and (quite deservedly) made an awful lot of money off Soft Cell's version.
Ed Cobb wrote the song around the mid-60s with early versions by Gloria Jones and Ruth Swan.  The Gloria Jones version is a Northern Soul classic, the most played record at the legendary Wigan Casino.
Gloria Jones also married brit rocker marc boland of t rex fame, his son who grew up in america was totally unaware of his fathers fame untill his early twenties.
Barington, are you sure of that answer??
Marc Bolan lived with Gloria Jones but never married.

"and (quite deservedly) made an awful lot of money off Soft Cell's version"
