This is a differnt situation, obviously, but I stayed in a B&B in York the other week and they got round this problem (and the one of people who like toast well done versus people who like it with no colour whatsoever) by just having a toaster in the dining room and leaving an assortment of breads by it, so that whilst you waited for your choice of cooked breakfast, you had the usual cereal, juice and yoghurt in the meantime (or after), plus your toast, just as you liked it, with whatver you wanted on top of it. It was great.
