how does the families of the people cope when they go to prison and is there any help from anyone for financial and personal support

one way of coping is to pass the time planning your life in order to get rid of the partner who has let you down ....

thanks for that yes it maybe a close family member its my nephew who i av been very close to while he has been growing up my family are devestated that he could end up there and are worried how he will cope and my brother and his wife they will have to take on his bills which they cannt afford aswel as they have got four other children

The prisoner's debts - provided they are in his sole name and not joint - are his liability and no-one else's so his parents don't have to pay them.

If the prisoner had been supporting them by giving them a contribution to their living costs then this will obviously have stopped. The only thing they can do is to apply for any means tested benefits that they think they might be entitled to - go to www.entitledto.co.uk to get some idea of this.

If his parents are taking on something like paying his rent (so he has somewhere to live when he comes out) they will have to cope with this themselves and will not get any benefit help with it. However, if he was living alone and the property he had is now empty then it is exempt from Council Tax while he is in prison.

sorry , where i come from we dont count nephews, cousins etc as close family,
and certainly wouldnt bail out a dodgy one.

nobody ever really expects relatives/partners/friends to go to jail.
and obviously some family bonds are stronger than others!!!! Suse is not bailing him out anyway she is looking at what support is available for her brother(which most people regard as close family)! which i think any normal family would do!
