batch echo

This is a nightmare.
I've got to create a batch file to write another batch file. Sounds simple. But i need to echo a pipe command to a file.

EG: echo echo text >command.bat >filename.bat

How can i get this to work?
I did want to use vbscript but i can't for some reason.

I forgot you have to escape each command.
