Can anyone tell me about apprectice's - I'm trying to find out what the wages would be for a 18 year old - first year employment working in the construction ( Roofing Contractor ). Any other details would be great as well.

I'm sure some roofing contractor on here'll be able to tell you more geewhiz, but a friend of mine pays his apprentice plasterer �250 a week - plus more for overtime.

Thanks for your advice Ice.Maiden but I would be grateful if someone in the roofing line would comment pls. Specifically I'm looking for advice on wages, travel arrangements ( collected or not ) time finishing, bad weather day offs, holidays etc. and overtime. I'm new to this and can't understand how to work out what's entitlement and what's not.

apprenitce's are exempt from the minimum wage but are paid anything from �80+ a week, look on www.apprenticeship.org. uk for more information about training providers in your area. Contact your local connexions or career centre for more support
its a good apprenticeship hard work but!!! you should be on about �120 plus well thats what a was on my 1st year and that was 2 years ago!!!
