You sound as if you know where to buy duty-free booze online already, but the delivery charge is high.

Are you talking about duty free, or cheap booze from within the EU?

There's a site www.duty-free-wines.com based on the Isle of Man that advertises duty free booze and ships to the mainland at 9.95 a case which offers a considerable saving on the same wines bought in the UK.

But.

While they may sell it duty-free the moment it arrives in the UK you are responsible for paying duty and VAT on it. The Isle of Man people use parcel post. That means you'll get a card through your door inviting you to pick up your delivery from the local post-office after you pay them the taxes, plus a hefty service charge to the Post Office for collecting it.

Buying alcohol from other EU countries where their tax is minimal is your right (I believe) according to EU laws. However, UK Customs & Excise interpret this to mean only when you accompany the alcohol. If you get it delivered to you, then you must pay all UK taxes.

So the simple answer is, you can buy duty free booze online, but you cannot get it delivered to the UK without paying UK tax.

Suggest you either buy online through Tesco - who have 25% off all South African wines if you buy 6, or save coupons from newspapers for cheap channel crossing tickets and hop across to Calais. You can bring back 10 cases of wine with you.
