Is it OK to mount this type of boiler underneath a kitchen worktop. (space 870mm high x 600 wide by 600 deep and vented through kickboard/plinth? I want to use a 'blind' corner unit in a very small kitchen to save wall unit space. Clearly access for maintenace and servicing will need to be provided. Also - does this boiler have the facility to use a remote programme controller?
The boiler can be mounted in a cupboard provided there's minimum clearances all round. See here.
Since the boiler uses a 'balance flue' system, there's no need to provide any separate air inlet to the cupboard.
Worcester provide wireless control thermostats for this model, but whether this extends to an actual programmer is not clear. If not, and given adequate technical ability, the control cable for a programmer could doubtless be extended to position the control outside the cupboard.
its not a balanced flue boiler at all, its a fan flued sealed boiler.
ive never come across one thats been installed under a kitchen worktop before and i would have concerns about heat build up and id feel very sorry for the poor guy who has to repair and service it, it wouldn't be much fun trying to get the pipework into the bottom of the boiler when installing it either.
NO you can not mount this boiler under the worktop. As you need a min of 200mm clearance below it and 170mm above it together with the 700mm of the boiler it simply can not be done in a 870mm high space.
Have you thought about the Worcester Greenstar Highflow 440 combi boiler designed for floor standing, and fitting under worktops etc.
