I know what you mean - it really does sound like it came from a film. There are loads of references to it on the web, but no attributions - most say 'unknown' or 'anonymous'.

My friend down in England has that written down in a book of her favourite quotes - I had it as my MSN personal message a few weeks back - it's on the tip of my tongue....she ain't answering her phone tonight but am gonna keep trying and find out for you.
