Hi there, i need help, i have a tv with only 1 scart *******. I have a sky box, a dvd recorder and a vhs player. I would like to know how i can set it up so that i can watch sky or a dvd or a video but also be able to record from sky onto a video, from sky onto a dvd and from vhs onto dvd. I have lots of cables i just don't know what goes where to make it all work.

To have a chance of answering your query - you need to list how many scart sockets are on each of the other units (sky box, dvd recorder, vhs recorder).

If it is not possible to achieve through cables alone - it may be possible with a scart switcher unit. Worst case scenario, you might have to do a bit of plugging/unplugging to get what you want.

Put the Skybox into the DVD recorder, and the DVD recorder into the single scart sockert on the TV.

For the VHS which you seldom use anyway (I guess) go back to the old fashioned co axial cable with the round plugs into the aerial socket on the TV.

OK so you can't record on the VHS from the DVD or digibox my way, but with a DVD recorder in the house, why on earth would you want to?

the sky has an in and out scart sockets as does the dvd recorder and the vhs player. It is only the tv that has 1 socket. At the moment i have the aerial coming in from the sky dish into my skybox, analog aerial into the dvd recorder. then have an aerial out of dvd into skybox and out of skybox into vhs. I have a scart from tv into dvd, from dvd into skybox.

I can record from tv/sky onto vhs (which i'm not really fussed about) and i can watch videos. I can also watch dvds and i can record onto dvd but from the tv only. I can't find the video channel or the sky channel.

does that explain it a little better?

sorry forgot to add what i'm tring to do is get all my video's backed up onto dvd so that i can do away with the vhs player and just have the skybox and dvd recorder

Connect VHS scart out to DVD scart in

Record all your videos onto DVD.

Put VHS machine in loft.

Run scart out of digibox into DVD.

Run scart out of DVD to TV

Job done.
