can someone tell me if Gamecube consoles connect to the TV via a scart plug or through the ariel?

dont know but xbox and playstation 2 have scart adaptors that u plug the three cables into it (red white and yellow) so my guess is that the gamecube would be like this too as actual ariel connections dont provide the best quality picture to show of the gamecubes graphics

Yeah, the cube is the same as the ps2 so its the red/white and yellow cables into the scart converter.
