Hi
I suffer from migraines-not the terrible ones thank god, where you have to go and lie down. I usually get them when i'm hot, very cold, dehydrated, sat under very bright lights or from eating cheese or chocolate.
Believe it or not, I cant have the radiator on in the bedroom in early morning cos when I wake up, i will probably have one.
Anyone else suffer?? What causes yours? Whats your medication? I take naratriptan. thanks

I have the 'lie down in a dark room while trying to keep from vomiting' ones. Not nice.

Haven't found ANY medication works.

Cause largely unknown but dehydration seems to feature most of the time.

I stopped drinking coffee and started taking feverfew daily... get very few now.

I wish I'd done that years ago now!
i am also a sufferer, i take HEDEX EXTRA (the red box)as i have tried most of the prescribed drugs with not much joy and i always used to overlook anything on the shelf, but one day in work a coleague offer me some to try and ease my migraine and i thought no arm in trying, and boy i have never looked back, i carry them everywhere now and whenever near chemist or supermarket i pick up 3 packs, try it for yourself, let me know.
There was a very interesting article in The Daily Mail yesterday about a lady who had suffered migraine since she was 12. She is now in her early 50's and has over the years tried everything. She was referred to Dr Nicola Giffen a neurologist at Royal United Hospital, Bath for nerve-block injections and it has transformed her life.If you google Daily Mail,Good Health, nerveblock injections you will be able to read the article. Sorry I can't post the link as I'm not sure how to.
Dehydration can cause mine, as can stress at work. I'm prescribed Rizatriptan, which seems to work but leaves me feeling a bit floaty for a couple of hours.

I also get them if i get over hot (hot baths for example) and have to take lots of precautions in the summer not to get too much sun as this sets them off.

I usually have a bad one once each month, but this can increase up to two or three in a week. Im not sure if these may be one long one that lasts several days or if they are separate.

Take care

RB
I get them - I have to lie down somewhere dark and try not to be sick. I can often tell when I'm about to get one as I start to yawn a lot, then the vision can go a bit blurry. I know that the usual suspects - cheese, chocolate, citrus fruits etc.- can trigger them so I do try to avoid too much of those. I have been better since I stopped too much caffeine and drank more water. As far as medication goes I can't take Migraleve or any of those so I take the strongest painkiller I can and just try to sleep. I don't know about you but a bad one can affect me for days.
