Is it legal to park my motorhome on the road outside my house. It is taxed and insured and is not causing any obstuction.

Every vehicle parked on the road causes an obstruction but obviously this is largely overlooked unless it is in contavention of road signs/lines or is considered dangerous.

Parking your motorhome for short periods ie days should not cause problems but if this became weeks or even months there would probably be complaints from neighbours ( to the police or local council) or other road users and you would then be required to move it. Depends really how tolerant your neighbours are as to how long it could remain parked.

yes your are quite legal to park there with a valid roadtax disc ,mot & insurance the only thing i would be concerned about is the width of the road for allowing easy access to emergency vehicles and for the safety of your vehicle
can you park it safely in a driveway or at a storage site

The only places where vehicles may be legally parked on a public highway are those areas specifically set aside for that purpose. All vehicles not within such an area (and I would guesstimate this could account for over 95% of UK vehicles) are unlawfully parked.

Are you likely to fall foul of the law? Perhaps not, but that would depend on many factors e.g. those already mentioned - size of vehicle; timescale of obstruction; amenability of neighbours and authorities. Any one of these can affect the chances of action being taken against you.

i would check the deeds for your house

mine state that it is forbidden to park caravans and commercial vehicles on or adjacent to the property.
neighbours are pretty hot at reporting anyone disregarding rules to the local authority (private housing too not council)

I would say that common sense should prevail, neighbours on the whole should not have to endure looking out onto motorhomes, caravans, horseboxes, untidy gardens and sorn cars and the likes, I am sure a short term parking is acceptable but eyesores do have a habit of upsetting neighbours, last thing you want is grumpy neighbours......
