Lining a 40ft Pond

I have a 40ft round pond dug and cannot find a liner to fit it other than getting one made especially which is very expensive. Can any1 think of any ideas to line this pond? thanks

I wold *think* its possible to buy lengths of liner and overlap it at the joins. Obviously where the overlap is you would probably have to fold the 2 edges together somehow to make it watertight.
Might be worth scouring the PraticalFishkeeping website for ideas.

When buying liner the width is the criteria.

That's one big pond! Whatever you use, you'll need to join it. I see PVC pond liners advertised at 0,5mm thick, but they're not very big. Damp Proof Membrane at 500 microns thick is the same thickness, and is available in folded rolls of 4m x 12�m. It's probably quite a bit cheaper, too! Tape is used to make watertight joins, and this could be a bit tricky to apply neatly on the lengths you'd be working with.

i would consider getting the liner made up professionally, a proper pond company can join the liners together, i think they use a special glue and heat it.

Strange that you would go to all this effort without costing the liner first. You can buy joining tape, that 'welds' the two surfaces together. However on a liner of this size I would definately recommend that you find the money to get it done proffesionally - mistakes could be even more expensive. Dont forget to add the depth of the pond x 2 to both dimensions, plus a good allowance for overlap all around.
