"M'Lud, they were strumpets. They were sexual filth spreading foul disease in the guise of Mary Magdalen. Wh0res M'lud, all wh0res, filthy dirty wh0res.
The Good Lord Shepherd came to me and said 'Go forth and Kill the filth'. And M'lud, that is what I did. I answered our Lord, just as Noah answered him and fortook all those lives"
Or something like that.

Raysparx makes an important point, but Tim Langdale QC (defence) has suggested a minimum term of 30 years rather than 5 life sentences. I suspect that he will never see the outside ever again.
And Wardy, the reason he didn't plead insanity was because he always maintained he was not guilty. I don't suppose it helped that when confronted with some fairly forceful forensic evidence he chose to go "no comment".
Anyway, sentencing is tomorrow and with any luck, I shall get to sit in!!

I think the Judge acted appropriately Rabbitygirl. It also gave defence counsel the opportunity to speak to his client following the verdict so that he could make appropriate submissions on his behalf (not that, in reality, he said much). Defence would also need to consider the possibility of psyche reports.
The Judge is not meant to form a view on sentence during a trial until after it is over and it is only when the verdict is announced that the Judge can form a view.
