orange sim card (pay as you go)

i need to register it to find out the phone number apparently? but on the website it says that i need the number to register? does anyone know what i'm supposed to do? thanks x

450 is the number to ring for Orange

They probably mean that you need to give the card its first top-up in order to activate the "line".

Alternatively, on the off-chance that you have a Sony Ericsson, press the down volume button on the side and it should come up with a list of details about the phone.

call orange on 0800 079 0006 using another phone eg landline and they'll ask you for the sim card number on the back of the sim, the imei number on the mobile phone you will be using the sim with (long number on the phone underneath the battery). They'll give you your new number, activate the sim and there you go..
