Onboard audio, unable to install driver!

Can not get sound on my pc! I have c-media AC97 onboard audio and can not get sound out of my speakers! Please help! Thanks in advance!

I know this will sound really basic but I had a friend who had the same problem as you and it turned out he'd accidentally muted the speakers.Have you checked yours?

Not muted no, the pc seems to not pick up the speakers! If i click on itunes to play a song it says itunes detected a problem with your audio configuration audio/video playback may not operate properly
try reinstalling the driver for it
In Control Panel, my AC97 onboard audio has a CM Audio icon. Clicking on this gives me a choice of several configurations. For instance, if I watch a DVD movie I select 6 speaker mode, but for VHS videos I have to change to 2 speaker mode. Also as daffy suggested, double check nothing has a tick in a "mute" box.
