Shower leaks

I have had a power shower installed and after a couple of weeks I noticed that the water was getting past the silicone between the tray and the tiles. I removed the old silicone and re-did it but still water running under tray. I then tried one of teh plastic sealing strips but that has not worked either.

There does seem to be quite a big gap between the tiles an the shower tray. I was thinking of using grout to fill the gap rather than silicone. Help!! Would that work or do you have any suggestions?

I would be careful using grout. The shower tray is likely to sink a tiny bit when you get in it, and grout isn't designed to flex like this.
I'm sure you'll be able to find a suitable plastic/rubber moulding to fit around the top of your shower tray, from most DIY or Plumbing shops.

Go for the more expensive tubes of sealant(I paid about 7 for mine) because the elasticity, strength, mould resistance and all round finnish are well worth the extra money.

I know you can get tubes of it for about 1 in some places but where water leakage is concerned it's better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks for your replies.

I have ended up using a Polyfilla water proof filler (which is apparently flexible) to fill the gap between the tray and the tiles, and then put silicone on top of that.

It looks fine but I have'nt used it yet. I'll let you know in a couple of days!!

Thanks again

Why dont you tile upon a tile around the shower tray this will forward the distance and cover the gap plus sit the bottom of the tile on a silicon base and top of the tile with a rounded edge tile strip, only an idea.
If it should leak again, I agree that you should use a good quality sealer. But also place as much weight in the tray as possible when sealing, and do not remove until the sealant is dry.
