The coals in my gas fire are starting to go white, how do I get them back to black?

Use a wire brush on them, but don't rub too hard.

 rossy, when you say " going white ", i can only presume that the black is coming off ? the whiteish you see is more than likely the original  colour of the moulded fibreglass........ if this be so, then by rubbing too hard will take off the black,  but then, time and age can be the cause ,.... local  'motorists ' shop, MATT black, heat resistant paint. remember tho' to get or keep that red, warm, real coal effect, that some areas of the mould, are that bit lighter than the black coal areas.... hope that helps,

   oops ! sorry Rossy, notice now that yours is a gas one, mine is electric, but they both could be the same ? which i think you will find, please check first ok ?
